Leopard Gecko Water In Belly

closed and the Museo da Rua do Beja

"Given Curiosidade or interesse ea the process for the project Museum site for Street Sembrano in Beja have raised, republished here the full article which I published Jornal.Arquitectos, No. 199 .

probably come to create a blog entirely devoted to this case and the current "low and plays tricks" that unfortunately continue to interfere in the "Office of Architect"

Tenia yo verdadera curiosidad knowing that it was qué el explicaba architect Gonçalo Afonso Dias in the article mentioned above. had also seen this blog which stated that you wanted to open entirely devoted to the subject of this project Museum Sembrano Sítio da Rua do in Beja (Baixo Alentejo province in Portugal ), and seen the photographs and drawings and models of the project, and articles devoted to the strange actions and extra-activities of "personalities" of culture and administration. My
no notions of the Portuguese language allowed me to get a vague idea but would not let me go into details, find out further the matter. I turned ... I thought The Red Foliot , I remembered that on one occasion when I told my little problems to translate, understand a comment ectrito in Portuguese, he offered to help if returned to me in another little problem or trouble with a text this language.

As you can see right away this time it was not a small little problem of no importance, but the request of a big favor, because I asked him to translate a long text, so on my whims, and over the hill. The Red Foliot , which must be one of those extraordinary beings can with everything put them ahead, he replied that he would be happy to just turn a trip to Lisbon was about to embark. A journey that certainly comes as a serial counting by chapters on his blog, entitled " The perfect tourist: Lisbon revisited " and without hesitation recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy the adventures of this perfect tourist.

Then I leave you with your translation work. Thanks a million, Foliot.

"TEN YEARS TO THE GARBAGE?
Gonzalo Alfonso Díaz

Story telegraph and illustrated the process in which we were involved in since we got the right to design a building to date when a sudden desire to see the work autarkic made, together with facilities / constraints of the Polis Programme, led by Chairman of City Council to ignore the importance of ethics and the regulations and to deliver the project on its own initiative an architect of his confidence.
This would clearly a story to the courts, should be concerned that these issues would be resolved in "due time." Thus, there is little more than a story.

1. Site Museum Street do Sembrano 1991

(...) It all began in 1983. By becoming the foundation for building a house were uncovered Roman structure at a relatively superficial: tanks and hot rooms belonging to a bathing area. The remains are at the perimeter of the Roman city, in an area not far from where would the economic, political and religious of the Pax Julia.

For some time the relative neglect of the findings led to the residents used the area as a dump closed. The systematic archaeological excavations began to be held since 1987. The town meanwhile realized the importance of finding, acquiring and placing the area under the direct responsibility of the Regional Museum.
This raises the problem: what to do with the ruins in the historic center? The Beja House resolved to convene a design competition for local national.

2. March 1991. Launch of Public Ideas Competition Street Sembrano do

The contest is made with the assumption that the archaeological excavation that was flowing would be stabilized.
The construction schedule is left open, as part of the classification criteria "(...) Selecting a project team to recruit for the preparation of the draft specification of a solution for the treatment of space occupied by the archaeological findings in the Street Sembrano do. "

3. June 191. Premier location Jury unanimously Public Ideas Competition for Street Sembrano do with the proposal of a site museum

"(...) Based on the principle that archaeological findings do Serrano Street are the support element in the contest, the project team felt that the best solution is the establishment in the premises of a site museum. "
"(...) The project takes as essential the idea that a site museum main function is the preservation and enhancement of the Site and understanding by the community, his meaning."
"(...) In functional terms, it is clear the intention of making the archaeological structures at the main exhibition hall of the Museum."

4. February 2002. Signing of contract

Previous Study Approval by the Municipality of Beja. Approval by the Portuguese Institute of Cultural Heritage
June 1992. Project approval by the Municipality of Beja.

5. February 1993: Request for Project reformulation

In the sequence of discovery of an important Roman road in the area corresponding to the building entrance courtyard archaeologists redefine the limits of the excavation "disregarding" a narrow strip (2.20 m) near the corner of Calle de San Antonio, where he reorganized the access scheme and support spaces of the Museum.

6. August 1993: Implementation project delivery according to the reformulated proposal

Competition for the contract and award a construction work for 47,874,929 coats.

7. minor road

1994: excavations continue, the beginning of the work is delayed. The Roman road that gave rise to the first reformulation of the project is dismantled. Not confirmed its importance.

8. Wall of extraordinary importance

1995: discovery of a wall of the Iron Age in the strip of land above "Despised." The finding is extremely important because it demonstrates the pre-Roman occupation of the territory.
conclude the archaeological excavations. It notes the need for a new reformulation of the project resulting from the latter finding.

9. December 1996: signing of the contract for a new reformulation of the draft Site Museum Street
do Sembrano

It is a new technical team. The existing plan is reformulated as a whole, which is, in practice, a second project for the Museum.
define a new concept: "(...) a smooth volume, parallelepiped, abstract separated from adjacent buildings, a sort of wooden box, which encloses the archaeological site.

10. To make it clear this gesture

"To make it clear this gesture, we created a platform that coincides with the lot in a different material, which contained the actual archaeological site, on which rested the aforementioned volume."

11. Phase 2 construction

Beyond the Museum building proposed the extension of the intervention to the lot next door, gaining a place (extension museum's platform), through the demolition of the existing building there. The proposal was accepted by the House. The project and the work of the Plaza became designated as Phase 2 construction.

12. Deliveries

March 1997: delivery of the previous study (Project II), April, based Project Delivery (Project II), November, Implementation Project Delivery (Project II) with a budget estimate of 90.02.471 shields.

13. Attraction

1998. Having received no official information on the process of the museum, we were informed by a Municipal Technical Chamber of Beja of the contract more favorable response in the meantime made competition surpassed by the shields of 60,000,000 of the Construction Budget, as the House was going to cancel the competition and promote a new for the overall project (Museum + Plaza), which attract larger companies.

14. Invitation I

June 29, 2000: meeting at the request of the Municipal Chamber of Beja in which we are informed that the Polis Programme would give viability to the construction of the whole project (Museum + Plaza). Meanwhile our team would be invited to participate in largest urban intervention, which would include the arrangement of streets and buildings next to the Museum, including the length S. Joao.

15. Invitation II

July 21, 2000: Expo Park asks us by e-mail information on the Museum diverse, with a view to developing a brochure in the field of development of the Strategic Plan of the city of Beja.
August 2, call a colleague to us that he has been invited by the President of the Municipal Chamber of Beja to project the Museo de Sitio de la Calle do Sembrano.
August 7, received a registered letter sent by the Municipality of Beja, dated August 2: "(...) Add to contacts held with a potential funder of the work were made by this extreme reservations due to the high value of the building, to be expected that the work in question is not to obtain financing from any potential sources, given their high value, putting in question, arguably, the feasibility of being the same ever materialized.
Thus, taking into account the situation is reached and the importance of the intervention in question for the city, and the ongoing process of revitalizing its Historic Center, the City Council will consider other solutions which could pass the implementation of another project for local, which, without giving up the quality of the solution, note that is affordable within available resources.

16. Strategic Plan

September, 2000: Notebook is published Strategic Plan (Programa Polis) for the city of Beja.
Site Museum and the "Plaza de la Rua do Sembrano" are among the interventions to be undertaken in the Historic Center (Chapter 5 - Characterization of the intervention).
"(...) Site Museum - This action includes the construction of a building to house the findings of an archaeological site existing in the room, which will be kept visible and visitable. This building is a key equipment in the area of \u200b\u200bthe entire operation, contributing to the revitalization of this area functioning as a "ball of information?, Exploring its association with the adjacent public space."
"(...) Plaza de la Rua do Sembrano - Space Museum adjacent to the site will be completely remodeled to create a public space attached to the museum and of bond length S. Joao. Will require the demolition of several buildings degraded. " The schedule
intervention follows a period of twelve months for the projects of the Museum and the Plaza (March 2001/Febrero 2002).
The start of construction is scheduled for December 2001 (Museum) and January 2002 (Plaza).

. Everything should be completed in June 2003.
